Emergency Mobile Health Care, LLC (EMHC) was founded in March 1997 by Michael and Bette Arndt, Don Parsons. The concept of EMHC was to provide quality patient care and transportation with a locally owned and operated ambulance company.
Beginning with one ambulance and five employees EMHC gained a contract with Saint Francis Hospital on Park Avenue to transport patients out of the facility. Within two years EMHC had contracts with Delta Medical Center on Getwell Road, several nursing home facilities, had grown to a fleet of 9 ambulances and 20 employees. The base operation moved from a one room office on Poplar and Perkins to 1041 Oakhaven, and today now has a 7,000 square foot facility housing all ambulances and daily operations. Each owner found their niche and purpose in the company.
Michael Arndt, RN was also the president of EMHC working on the ambulances providing the higher level of care for specialty transports. Bette Arndt brought her business background and expertise to provide the financial knowledge and accounting strategies, which were the backbone of this new company. Don Parsons was the Marketing Director. Michael Arndt and Don Parsons worked to market EMHC and acquired contracts with almost every major nursing home in Memphis. Michael Nolen, EMT-IV is the Administrative Director responsible for compliance, risk management, and the day to day operations. Michael started with EMHC in 2002 as a driver, completed EMT school and has held several positions within the company.
As the years past and EMHC grew, so did the reputation of professionalism and dependability. By 2000 EMHC obtained a 911 contract in North Mississippi, and was providing transportation for over 12,000 patients annually and employed 40 EMT’S and Paramedics and had 11 ambulances. Along with Saint Francis and Delta Medical Center and seventeen nursing homes used EMHC almost exclusively and we provided over two hundred transports each month for the Methodist Health System. By the end of 2000 we added three hospice groups to our contracted list and were continuing to look for ways to expand our service and meet the needs of the Memphis area. Today EMHC is the proud ambulance service of Methodist Alliance Hospice, St. Francis Healthcare, Delta Medical Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A wheelchair van was added to the service in July 2001 which gave EMHC the ability to provide a more diverse form of patient transportation. In September of 2008 EMHC has a total of six wheelchair units in our fleet. These units are able to transport two patients along with nine ambulatory patients in a single trip. EMHC is looking forward to expanding this line of business in 2009.
Today EMHC has expanded the employee group to over 100 employees, and treated over 16,000 patients in 2007. We take pride not only to be the preferred provider in medical transportation but a partner with health care with facilities in the mid-south. |
