At the start of 2006 we introduced the first fuel-efficient Euro style ambulance in the State of Tennessee. The new ambulances have a yield of 23 miles per gallon compared to the old style ambulances getting 6 to 10. The new ambulances require oil changes every 10,000 miles compared to 5,000 for conventional. We have a total of sixteen in the fleet as of December 2008, and expect to purchase more in 2009. Our ambulances are equipped with GPS to provide information such as speed and location of an ambulance at any specific time. The system is managed through the internet and holds specific data about each ambulance. Our ambulances are also equipped with Drive Cam cameras which record an incident such as impact, sudden stops, and rough driving. These two features have been very useful when a facility wants to check on a transport or if there is a possible incident. We have had these systems since 2000 and were the first in Memphis with Drivecam.
